Marilyn Monroe

I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

Conversation with Juaquina Barbosa

Juaquina Barbosa was my grand-grandmother. She died many years ago because of colon cancer in the United States. She was a very Christian person who raised my mother, her granddaughter, and her eight children.

A: Good morning, Juaquina. It's a pleasure meeting you.

J: The same here, Alexandra. Nevertheless, from up here I have gotten to know you really well.

A: Well, mom has told me many things about you too, and I would have wanted to meet you in person.

J: You wouldn't have met me but I know your mother has taught you many things I taught her myself.

A: Yes I know, thanks to you and your teachings.

J: That was part of my purpose in life.

A: Do you think you completed God's purpose in your life?

J: Yes. I preached many people of God's amazing love and helped many needed children.

A: For you, what was a Christian's most important aspect in life?

J: I believe a good Christian needs to have a strong communication with God, through praying, and his faith in God is really necessary too.

A: Would you change something of your life?

J: Yes. In the relationship with my husband, I would have protected myself using contraception methods. Why? Because my husband, sexually transmitted me a disease. This caused one of my daughters to be born with problems.

A: What is your most beautiful memory?

J: The moments I lived with my granddaughter, Damaris, are my most treasured memories. Being able to raise her and lead her through a good path, were happy memories. Those moments are unforgettable.

A: Oh grandma, I wish there were more persons like you. Full of peace, love and faith, willing to help the needy, even though you were living rough times.

J: Remember Alexandra, we are never alone, and God is always besides us. Never forget, that during rough times we learn many things and even improve our trust in the Lord.

A: That's true. Thank you for everything you did to my mom and family. We will never forget you.

J: I will be waiting you... I love you.
